RARE SOUTH AFRICAN ART COLLECTION

Duncan’s Auctions is proud to present a very rare South African fine art Collection by much respected African artist Elaine Mato (Bunge). This art represents the mythology surrounding a centuries old royal house of the African Rain Queen, Modjadji. Elaine used an ancient art form called encaustic which is pure beeswax, damar tree resin and pigments that represent the region. Nelson Mandela consulted with the Rain Queen upon his release from prison and his grandson Ndaba Mandela donated one of these paintings to EARTH X. This art will be offered and broadcast worldwide.

None of the Modjadji masterpieces has ever been reproduced into numbered and/or series prints by the artist. These are all original only pieces, therein creating a higher value and a collectability for any art collector.

In  2010 one of these LARGE paintings was selected by PRISA as part of an exhibition for an International Congress On Communication, today and in the future.

Statement by Duncan’s Auctions:

Throughout history artists have portrayed reality, philosophical, religious, cultural and abstract images on their canvases or mediums using varying means to do so. Human history will be remembered through writings, music and images, but it is very rare when a piece of cultural anthropological art presents itself that portrays not only a region of the world and a culture within this world, but does it in a way that represents every element of the essence of art.

Occasionally, a poet or author can touch us when we enter their mind through their written words from decades and centuries of the past. There are rare times when a musician makes us feel what they feel. Then there’s art. Great artists over the millennium have a talent of creating an image that pulls us into their canvases wherein we are absorbed by the story that is told with the strokes of their brushes.

These Modjadji paintings are currently viewed and are sure to be viewed in the future as masterpieces that tell of the past, current and future philosophy and culture through reality and abstract. This entire collection, whether as one or in individual pieces is sure to be a sound investment. It is very rare when a collection such as this comes up for sale and Duncan’s Auctions is proud to have been chosen to bring these masterpieces to market.

There was a period of time when this collection’s whereabouts was unknown, but the paintings surfaced and were made available to the public for viewing and now they are on the market for sale.

“We are proud to have been chosen to assist in the selling of this historic cultural and natural artwork.” Rick Duncan, President of Duncan’s Auctions said. “We have sold varying items over the years, but this collection in one of the most unique and rare masterpieces I have ever had the pleasure to market and sale. Given Elaine’s encaustic technique and the pigments used, it truly represents the essence of the art.”

WELCOME TO DUNCAN’S AUCTIONS

Duncan’s Auctions has nearly 75 years of classic car, estate & equipment  experience. Joe Duncan, founder of Duncan’s Cadillacs in Los Angeles, California taught founder, Rick Duncan, everything he knew about the auction business. Rick grew up in the classic car, estate & equipment  auction business, helping his father in his 4 Florida auto, estate & equipment auctions.

Rick has been in the classic car, estate & equipment  business since the passing of his father in 1981. Below is the site where Mr. Duncan established one of the first classic car auctions in America. During the late 60’s & early 70’s Joe Duncan was operating auto auctions in Orlando, Lakeland, Sanford and Cocoa, Florida along with an equipment and estate auction service in Merritt Island, Florida.  “If you are searching for a comfortable and honest venue to buy or sell a classic car collection, estate or to liquidate your industrial or utility equipment, we invite you to participate in a Duncan’s Auction,” Rick said. “If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me personally.”
